Italian Ledger Binding.

Sketchbook.

A binding style used in Italy and Northern Europe from 14th century. Often used for business and accounts ledgers.

The text block is sewn onto split leather slips, these are then connected to external leather straps, through the covering, using lacing and tacketing.
